Dr. John Burden has been at Spalding since the Fall of 1999. He earned his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Organic Chemistry from the University of Louisville with a specialty in Organic and Medicinal Chemistry. His experience in higher education spans roles as a faculty member and administrator (Chair, Associate Dean, Associate Provost, and Provost). He has also served as Faculty Senate President, SACSCOC Institutional Accreditation Liaison, and Faculty Representative to the Board of Trustees. Dr. Burden’s research interests include approaches to the synthesis of biologically active peptides and peptidomimetics, and the use of computational chemistry and molecular simulations in drug design and development.
