About Ian

Dr. Van Deventer teaches accounting and finance at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. He possesses nearly 20 years of experience working as an accountant and manager. Much of his experience was gained in the lodging industry where he developed an aptitude for financial management and improving operations. Dr. Van Deventer possesses an undergraduate degree in German, an MBA in finance, a second MBA in accounting and a Ph.D. in advanced accounting. He pursues research interests in education, accounting and finance topics. Dr. Van Deventer enjoys sharing his experiences in accounting and finance with students. He strives to make complex topics easy for students to understand.
