The eleventh president of Spalding University, Dr. Anne Kenworthy is a visionary leader recognized for advancing student access and success through faith-based education. She is dedicated to fostering the academic achievements and spiritual growth of Spalding’s diverse and inclusive community of learners, in the tradition of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth, to meet the most pressing needs of our time. A trailblazer in higher education executive leadership, Dr. Kenworthy has pioneered strategic initiatives that spur academic innovation, institutional expansion and the cultivation of Catholic values.
Since accepting the role of president in 2025, Dr. Kenworthy has championed Spalding’s mission as an academically excellent university devoted to the pursuit of peace and justice. Under her leadership, Spalding’s presence has strengthened and grown in all of the university’s areas of influence.

President Kenworthy joined fellow leaders of Kentucky’s independent colleges and universities in Washington, D.C., meeting with Senators McConnell and Paul, Representative Comer (pictured), and staff from several congressional offices to advocate for the future of higher education.

At Greater Louisville Inc.’s Business at Breakfast, President Kenworthy joined fellow college presidents to champion the enduring value of the liberal arts in today’s workforce. She emphasized how Spalding graduates bring the ability to think critically and adapt.
Accopanied by Board Chair Kellie Sheryak and Trustee Thomas Williams, President Kenworthy met with Governor Andy Beshear to discuss Kentucky’s workforce needs. The conversation reaffirmed Spalding’s role in preparing students for in-demand careers.
In her first 100 days, President Kenworthy connected with numerous state and local leaders, including Representative Pamela Stevenson. These conversations explored new ways Spalding can support regional growth and opportunity through education and community engagement.
