Farrah Thornsberry, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC serves as the Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) Track Director in the Graduate Department of Nursing at Spalding University. A proud alumna, Dr. Thornsberry earned her BSN from Spalding, followed by an MSN and post-certificate in geriatric healthcare from the University of Phoenix, and later her DNP and PMHNP credentials from the University of Kentucky.
With a rich clinical background in psychiatric-mental health nursing across the lifespan, Dr. Thornsberry has worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, managed psychiatric units for children, adolescents, and adults, and directed staff education at a freestanding psychiatric hospital. She is also a U.S. Navy veteran and the founder of her own outpatient psychiatric practice.
At Spalding, she teaches the majority of courses in the PMHNP MSN program and contributes to the online DNP curriculum. She is actively involved in program development, student mentorship, and university service, including as a member of the Research and Ethics Committee. Her academic and clinical interests include trauma-informed care, psychopharmacology, integrated care, and expanding access to mental health services through advanced practice nursing.
