Dr. Glenn S. Baete is an Assistant Professor in the College of Education, where he has served since 2012. He currently leads the Principal Preparation, School Counseling, and Teacher Leader programs, helping to shape the next generation of student-focused school leaders and instructional professionals. Dr. Baete brings 21 years of school and district leadership experience from Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS), where he served as assistant principal, principal, Assistant Superintendent of High Schools, and Interim Chief Operations Officer. In 2008, he was honored as the JCPS High School Principal of the Year.
Dr. Baete is best known for leading Project Proficiency, a research-based high school reform initiative that significantly improved student achievement outcomes. In 2018, he developed the Six Essential Systems for a Strong Learning Climate, a comprehensive framework still used across JCPS to guide schoolwide curriculum, instruction, and assessment planning.
He also developed, led, and facilitated the JCPS/Spalding University Aspiring Leaders Program, and works with districts and education leaders across the country to support learner-centered leadership development. He actively mentors aspiring teacher leaders, school counselors, and school principals.
Dr. Baete holds bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the University of Louisville. His research interests include urban school reform, instructional systems planning, and differentiated school leadership.
