Spalding University Names 2025 Caritas Medal Recipient and Opens 2026 Nominations
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — December 4, 2025 — Spalding University presented the 2025 Caritas Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the University, to Jennifer Kumari Adams-Tucker during this year’s Homecoming festivities.
The Caritas Medal has recognized an outstanding alumna or alumnus annually since 1961. “Caritas,” meaning “charity” in Latin, reflects the motto of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth: “Caritas Christi Urget Nos,” or “The Charity of Christ Urges Us.” The award recognizes graduates who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their careers while exemplifying the values of the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth and the mission of Spalding University.
Adams-Tucker, a Louisville resident and mother of four, has built an 18-year career at Humana Inc., where she leads the development of data solutions and process improvements for national healthcare providers.
Her advocacy work stems from her personal experience as a parent of three children with autism. She has been appointed to numerous boards and commissions focused on special needs and community organizations by three Kentucky governors — Andy Beshear, Matt Bevin and Steve Beshear — as well as Louisville Mayors Greg Fischer and Craig Greenberg.
“Someone must speak for the ones that cannot speak,” Adams-Tucker said.
Somebody must fill the gap to ensure a high quality of life for those that cannot express themselves. This is especially important work; this is Kingdom work! Thank you to Spalding University for this honor
Jennifer Kumari Adams-Tucker
Adams-Tucker was nominated by her Humana colleague Tonya Shown, who shares her commitment to the special needs community.
Nominations for the 2026 Caritas Medal are now open. Recipients are selected through nominations from Spalding’s community of graduates and friends of alumni.
Nominations are accepted at https://spalding.edu/alumni/caritas-medal/, but must be submitted by March 31, 2026 to be considered for the 2026 award.
