Second-Degree Accelerated BSN Program Overview

The Second-Degree Accelerated BSN program at Spalding University prepares students to lead in health care or excel in graduate study. Each student works with a dedicated nursing success coach through completion of this fast track degree program. All students participate in clinical placements and are prepared for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) exam.

This program is designed for individuals with bachelor’s degree in another field to transition into the nursing profession.


  • 13 month program with June start date
  • 40 credit hours accepted from previous bachelor’s degree
  • 80 credit hours required to earn the BSN including required pre-requisite courses
  • Hybrid online and on-campus program
  • Clinical placement

Accelerated BSN Courses

The Second-Degree Accelerated BSN accepts 40 credit hours as transfer credits from the student’s first bachelor’s degree. Students are then able to focus entirely on natural science and nursing courses that prepare them for their new profession.

Clinical experience is gained in hospitals, health centers and community health agencies throughout Louisville. The program curriculum includes anatomy and physiology, microbiology and pathophysiology as well as courses such as health assessment, maternal-newborn nursing and nursing pharmacology.

At the completion of the program, you will be prepared to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) exam.
