Bachelor of Science in Communication Program Overview

Whether you have a specific career goal or you are still considering the options, a communication degree will equip you for the future. This program is designed to meet the needs of each student so that they can meet the needs of the times through clear, creative, and compelling communication — whether they work in entertainment, nonprofit organizations, corporations, or a wide variety of other fields.

Courses

Spalding’s 120-credit Bachelor of Science in Communication immerses students in the practical application of communication theory and research. The program is designed to guide students to explore a topic that interests them in the field of communication with an emphasis on career-readiness. Courses include Persuasion, Digital Media, and Online & Print Publication.

Concentrations

Each student in the communication program chooses a specific concentration to focus their degree.

Media Studies: Media Studies allows students to create a course of study that will prepare them for career aspirations in media analysis, digital literacy, television, film and media criticism, political policy and campaign analysis, marketing, brand strategy, content creation, journalism, nonprofit communication, or other related fields.

Communication Studies: Communication Studies allows students to design a program in tandem with the student’s professional goals aligned with communication, public relations, professional writing, branding, hospitality, event planning, journalism, nonprofit work, or other related fields.
