The reason I picked Spalding is because of the focus on social justice and the diversity of thought. The commitment to teaching with real world applicability in mind has made an impression on me as a social worker and has positively reflected in my performance to employers. The most consistent takeaway from classes was to put community at the forefront of all aspects of the work. Hearing multiple perspectives and analysis from all sides of an issue is always best practice. That lesson has helped me as an LCSW but also as a leader of a multidisciplinary team with varying objectives. From serving the community to funding sustainability to data reporting, each piece is essential to keeping the work moving forward successfully. Spalding more than prepared me for the challenge.
