Courses

Post-Master’s Certificate in Writing Enrichment students may pursue a new project or explore a new genre—or may want to learn more about the teaching of creative writing. Genre-emphasis residency courses (3-5-credit hours) include traditional genre workshops, or special topics such as the Editing and Publishing Workshop. At the conclusion of the residency course, the student enters into a 12-credit-hour independent study working one-on-one with an MFA faculty mentor.

Teaching-emphasis courses include the Teaching Seminar in Creative Writing at Residency and Advanced Independent Writing and Reading Emphasizing the Pedagogy Project during which the student designs an Introduction to Creative Writing syllabus and calendar with an MFA faculty mentor to guide them.

During the Independent Study, our virtual Business of Writing Seminars offer insights into editing, publishing and career options. Certificate students may wish to travel abroad. Recent Naslund-Mann travel enrichment included trips to Paris, Quebec, Vietnam, and soon Edinburgh and the Lake District.
